I am SO stoked that it’s the 1st day of spring! I am ready for warmer weather, sunshine, and family photo sessions on the beach! I absolutely LOVE these sessions and I completely recommend that you do one every year! Children grow up so fast and if you blink you will literally miss it. Family photo sessions are a great way to preserve those memories so that one day you can physically pick up one of those memories and remember exactly how life was all those years ago. The Dial family knows exactly how precious those memories are, after all, Kristin is a photographer.

I adore photographing other photographers! They are usually super easy going and know exactly what they want! Kristin, who owns Kristin Faye Photography in Georgia, found me through Instagram, and so far everyone that has found me through there has been super fun! They had vacationed many times before and wanted beach photo’s with their son, Anders (I just LOVE his name Anders was not really sure why I was there and was pretty serious for a bit but as soon as he got to put his feat in the sand he was good to go. He is definitely one loved little boy, and maybe one day he’ll look back on this session with his children and get to show them what he was like when he was little. Family memories really are the best!

This sessions was photographed at the very end of Pawleys Island using a Hasselblad H2 medium format camera and Kodak Portra 400 film. Scanned and developed by The FIND Lab.

What happens when a wedding planner has a baby and you get to photograph said babies 1st year?? Magic that’s what! Leslie Menich with Memorable Moments Event Planning definitely has an eye for style! It started with her stunning Maternity session, then the beautiful lifestyle newborn session, and for baby Charlotte’s 6 month session we decided to keep it in the studio – with LOTS of bright beautiful colors!

Little miss Charlotte can be a tough nut to crack sometimes. She always gets so serious every time I put the camera in her face. Not this session though! She was all smiles and funny faces. Since Leslie is a fashion lover it’s only appropriate that Charlotte be dressed to the 9’s! I loved her coral outfit which went PERFECTLY with my teal backdrop in my studio! I don’t get to use it often but when I do it’s so bright and beautiful! I am so in love with the way these turned out!

Can’t wait for Miss Charlotte’s next session!

A Myrtle Beach Family Portrait Session at Huntington Beach State Park – A Momma and her Boys

I believe every Mom should have a photo session done with just her and her babies when they are old enough to interact with but still young enough to be carefree children. I did a session with Carrie Geddie Photography in Raleigh, NC last year and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done! That bond between Mother and Child is so amazing – and that’s what I was hoping to do with this session for Alyce and her boys.

I have know Alyce and Todd since before they were married. They came to visit Myrtle Beach all the way from snowy Michigan. They had originally booked me to be their wedding photographer in Charleston but decided to elope to the Islands for their simple, yet beautiful, wedding. The next time I saw them they brought their 1st born (who just happens to be a few months younger than my youngest and we got to do their 1st family session at the beach. A few years later they brought their 2nd little monster down to the beach. Let me tell you, these 2 little monkeys are the definition of spirited! I missed them last year as they didn’t come to the beach but this year Alyce came with just the boys, Dad was hard at work back home. This was one of my favorite sessions this this family – just the boys and their Mom (no offense Todd, we love you too and look forward to seeing you next year ;).

Huntington Beach State Park is where we do their photo’s every year, so it holds a lot of sentimental value as it was where we did their engagement photo’s all those years ago. These 2 boys are a handful – but super fun to photograph! You never know what your going to get! You can tell by the multitude of expressions, these boys love to play! My favorite image is the one where we were about 3/4’s of the way through and both boys had had enough. So they decided to drape themselves over Mom and under her sweater so as to act invisible and maybe the mean ole’ camera lady wouldn’t see them. I’ve got news for them – I have the ability to see invisible children. Why? Because I’m a Mom

My favorite moments of 2015 – it was a great year

I still actually don’t believe it myself but 2015 is almost O V E R!!! Oi!!! Each year seems like it slips by faster and faster. This year though, I was determined to slow down, really observe a little more instead of being a bull in a china shop – I tend to get really excited about everything I wanted to work smarter not harder so that I could throw more of my creativity into each and every shoot. Looking over these images – I feel like I accomplished that As I was gathering all these images, I found myself smiling and remembering everyone who graced my lens this year. Remembering how happy everyone seemed to be. I feel I was able to collaborate well with everyone on exactly what they were looking for from their sessions and at the same time, everyone was willing to let me – well – be me

As this New Year aggressively approaches, I wish a light for everyone who feels the dark is too close, a warm embrace for everyone who needs just a little love, and hope for all so that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

I truly hope that everyone of my clients had a truly fun time with me this year – I really enjoyed working with ALL of you! There are some really fun things happening in 2016 so stay tuned . . .

Photographing families on the beach is one of my favorite things to do at this point in my career I love how children don’t worry about status, money, if your hair looks good They are just little bundles of joy exploring the world!

This family was a perfect example of that. Derick & Diane are actually photographers from WV (check their amazing work out here) They have 2 daughters and – as you all know – I am partial to girls having 2 of my own With the girls still being so young it was crazy trying to get anyone to do anything – which is just the way I like it – chaotic and fun As you can tell it made for some fun shots

Thanks again guys!! Hope you come back for vacation again and see me sometime

Sweet Baby Emma arrives – Charleston, South Carolina, Lifestyle Newborn Session

How excited was I when I got the call from Jessica & Chris (some very sweet past wedding clients of mine) to come and do the 1st photographs of their new sweet baby girl – Emma!I LOVE lifestyle newborn portraits because you really get a sense of what babies 1st days of life are like including the furry brothers, who were all to eager to participate. Normally they are not allowed in the nursery but on this day they were excited to be allowed to join Emma in her new room.

Thank you for inviting me into your home Jessica & Chris to record her 1st days of life. She is as sweet as she looks
